In what’s already been an exciting month for all at Meet Hugo having moved into the new Warmington Mill office at the start of November, a new C-Suite has been announced as the company starts to evolve and prepare for the future.
The creation and introduction of these new roles, which cover departments right across the business, comes ahead of schedule for Meet Hugo and has been fast-tracked as a result of the company’s success and evolution during 2020.
Company Founder Ben Harper, whose own role is changing as a result of the new structure from Managing Director to Chief Executive Officer, said in an announcement to staff that “As we grow, it’s been decided that we’re going to reorganise the management structure. This is to give more responsibility to the management team, allow others in the team the opportunity to step up to management level at the right opportunity, and give clearer remits for responsibilities within the business.”
When asked what this means for those affected, Ben said “This means there’s more opportunity for everyone. When the right time arises, we’ll have roles open for the likes of sales manager, marketing manager and so on which means that the sky’s the limit for ambitious, deserving members of the team. This plays into our plans for 2021, which we’ll start putting in place in December – but we’ve got some very ambitious targets for next year.”
He went on to add that “This is a big step up for the management team, and with more responsibility comes more pressure. Their remits are increased, and as such the business expects more out of them.”
The changes, which come into effect on 1st January 2021, involve promotions for:
- Luke Tyler to Chief Operating Officer
- Scott Roberts to Chief Technology Officer
- Tom Holland to Chief Revenue Officer
- Rich Goose to Chief Research Officer; and
- Joe Fletcher to Chief Marketing Officer
A brief description of the new roles and responsibilities will mean plenty to do for those taking up the new positions. These include:
CEO: the highest-ranking executive in a company, whose primary responsibilities include making major decisions on finance, direction and overall strategy, managing the overall operations and resources of a company, acting as the main point of communication between the shareholders and being the public face of the company.
COO: The chief operating officer is a senior executive tasked with overseeing the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of a business, and is heavily involved in overall strategy.
CTO: The CTO makes all executive decisions with regards to the technological interests of a company. They are responsible for outlining the company’s technological vision, implementing technology strategies, and ensuring that the technological resources are aligned with the company’s business needs.
CRO: A Chief Revenue Officer is the individual in charge of a company’s revenue streams. Leveraging knowledge of the roles both sales and marketing play in driving growth, they have ultimate accountability in aligning all revenue-generating departments and building strategic partnerships.
CIO: A Chief Insight officer is the individual in charge of ensuring each department and senior leader is able to make data-led decisions, by providing insight & intelligence across the business.
CMO: A Chief Marketing Officer is responsible for overseeing the planning, development and execution of an organisation’s marketing and advertising initiatives. The CMO’s primary responsibility is to generate revenue by increasing sales through successful marketing for the entire organisation.
